I wanted a battery to hook up to our existing solar panels and inverter. Got a quote. The installer basically quoted me for a secondary set of panels and inverter. WTF? Obviously trying to upsell. No thank you. Need to get a quote from someone who will actually quote just for a battery.

I bought brand new 8 x 6v 'GIANT' gel batteries at 26 KWH for $3700 in Australia. They may only last half as long as a Tesla but they won't burn the house down and when I replace them in 10 years time I'm sure the price per KWH will be much lower. I bought a 6.2 kw PowMr inverter charger off ebay for $700 and after 18 months the lot has run faultlessly.

Mate, Sungrow are garbage inverters and their warranty service, well let’s say I’m still waiting for them to respond after dozens of calls from my installer and myself. Sungrow is a terrible company I will never go with them again. I and many others are putting complaints into the ACCC. Sorry but I won’t be be watching your opinion again, it’s definitely wrong.

You completely missed the best thing about the Tesla warranty. It covers parts and labour which is a huge bonus compared to everyone else's parts only warranties.

It's a dumb rule. It's our responsibility as drivers to not run them over.

I'm interested in a battery or 4 for our 6.6 system and really only to run a 4kw window mounted air conditioner during the 6 HOT months. Does anyone know how to calculate how long the 4 x 3.2kw buttery's would run the AC for.

I’d be placing the battery in the backyard near my least favourite neighbour. I just don’t need it going poopy in its trousers under my children’s bedroom. Since seeing all those lifepo ev batteries self immolating. And ev batteries have liquid cooling so it should be even less likely.
